how to install a programme from windows to Linux

WINE: port windows to run in Linux

To install

1.Go to accessories
2.Terminal
3.Type sudo apt-get install wine
sudo: get privilege from normal account
apt-get : programme for installation

To uninstall

1.Type sudo apt-get remove name of programme


Repository

* for every Linux distro
* set of servers used to serve Linux application packages

Software sources can be from server in Malaysia or the main server in US.

All software packages are at the main server in US,in case u can't install a software using Malaysia server,u may have to get it from the main server.It will automatically install after that.

File system - the way data is organize in a system

For windows: FAT,FAT32 @ NTFS
For Linux : ext3,ext 4(both are default), reiserfs (only Suse Linux use this)


Linux File System

In windows we have the thing we called disk C,disk D or E...we called it hard disk.

But in Linux all the C,D or E is consider as 1 hard disk


/ is important in Linux...we called it as root where all the file will be under the root

/bin : programme files
/var : system such as web server and mail.All the miscellaneous directory will use var.e.g: /lib @ /share
/home: user folder e.g:user 1,user 2
/boot : store Linux image file
/etc : configuration file


security of Linux

root: admin account/super user account
normal user : can only view without making any changes or editing.But can install or edit in Ubuntu by borrowing privilege as root by using admin password.

Linux adelah unix based operating system yang wujud di dunia sekarang selain windows,macintosh(apple product) atau solaris(sun,workstation,server)..

Linux is released by GNU( General Public License) yang memudahkan perkongsian software atau update software dari masa ke semasa antara pengguna linux.

Unix adelah secara ekslusif digunakan oleh server...contoh lain adelah Berkeley,Hp(Hpux) dan IBM(Aix)


Terdapat beberapa jenis Linux.contohnya..

* Ubuntu
* Damn Small Linux
* Puppy Linux
* Centos
* Mandriva
* Clarkconnect

contoh package manager yang memudahkan kita mengenal pasti jenis linux tersebut adalah

* .rpm utk Redhat

* .deb utk Debian
